The government’s strategic initiative to create a stronger national connection network and logistics ecosystem was realized through the merger of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero) into PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) that subsequently became PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero). With this merger, it is hoped that the maritime connection network between domestic and international ports will grow. Through this merger, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), hereinafter referred to as Pelindo, will have better strategic control and strong financial support so that Pelindo’s business operations will be more coordinated, efficient, effective, and standards that will have a good impact on the communities, especially service users.
The merger of the four business entities is a breakthrough in a port business that was previously regional in nature, to be transformed on a national scale. By establishing 4 (four) SOE-equivalent subholding corporations, Pelindo Terminal Peti Kemas Subholding, Pelindo Multi Terminal Subholding, Pelindo Jasa Maritim Subholding, and Subholding Pelindo Solusi Logistik Subholding. The business scheme will be more focused on clusters to increase Pelindo’s service capacity and business efficiency. Integration will also provide better strategic control over overall planning for the network, reduce logistics costs, and improve the infrastructure and capacity. The previously independent business entities have been transformed into an integrated Pelindo to create a national maritime ecosystem network through increased network connectivity and service integration to support the country’s economic growth now.
