CONTAINER TRAFFIC
Container traffic in box units in 2021 reached 13,234,256 boxes, an increase of 18.95% compared to 11,125,677 boxes in 2020. Container traffic in TEUs increased by 21.55%, from 14,032,351 TEUs in 2020 to 17,056,636 TEUs in 2021. This was mainly due to:
Region 2
- An increase in adhoc vessel activities in 2021 of 104.701 TEUs, plus the addition of new services such as CIS (OOCL), CS2 (CMA, WANHAI), CIS/CIM2 (OOCL, GOLDSTAR, ONE), CMI2 (SITC), NSJ (TSINE/BENLINE) and Direct US (Ali Express) on JICT; and
- An increase in shipping containers traffic by PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Line, PT Tanto Intim Line, PT Caraka Tirta Perkasa, PT Indo Container Line, PT Pelayaran Tresnamuda Sejati at IPC TPK Tanjung Priok 1.
Region 3
- Foreign container ship visits at PT Terminal Teluk Lamong as ad hoc activities from KMTC Line, GSL Line, Cosco, CMA, and Evergreen shipping. An increase also occurred in domestic ship visits from shipping agency Mentarimas Multimoda for Central and Eastern Indonesia routes, for the Lembar, Kendari, Kumai, Sampit and Gorontalo routes. In total, the Sampit and Kumai routes saw a significant increase of 30% and 69% for large shipping activities in TTL in Temas, 3M, and Meratus;
- An increase in domestic and international container traffic also occurred at the Semarang Container Terminal, due to the addition of the SITC CMI II windows, and also an increase from several companies such as Orient Overseas Container Line co., Ltd., Mediterranean Shipping Company, Samudera Shipping Line and Wan Hai Lines, Meratus lines and Pelayaran Indo Container Lines; and
- The achievement of domestic container activities for loading and unloading containers occurred at TPKB, Jamrud Terminal and Nilam-Mirah Terminal.
